August has been my “month of autocross”. After having my car down for most of July, I’ve kind of gotten lucky with three autocross events on my calendar in August. August 10th, I went out with the San Antonio Sports Car Association (sasca.org).
It was really hot, but I got lucky and got my work assignment out of the way first thing in the morning by helping with event registration. There were 127 drivers signed up for the day, so we ran in three heats. I got to run in the first heat, so could have gone home early, but I chose to hang out and watch for the rest of the day.

I think I’d get confused going into the first turn.

The trick is that we walk the course several times
first thing in the morning to get the lay of th
e
land. That and the more you do it, the easier it gets to read the course.

What is your camera set-up like?

I generally run two dedicated GoPros plus my normal dash cam. I always have this camera mounted under the bumper in place of the front license plate for autocross and depending on what I’m trying to work on I move the 2nd one around a bit. Sometimes it’s on a fender so I can see how close I get to the cones, sometimes it’s positioned so I can see my hand movement.
I use a pair of GoPro Hero 4 Silver cameras.
